- Assistant General Manager Stevedoring** **Job Category****:** Operations **Requisition Number****:** ASSIS02080 Showing 1 location **Job Details** **Description** **Ideal Candidate Description:** The successful candidate will be an experienced stevedoring and marine terminal operations professional with expertise across all aspects of the industry including bulk, breakbulk, steel products, and special project cargo. S/he will possess proven leadership skills and be able to effectively communicate across the entire organization, from the longshoremen working at the terminals, to front-line supervision/management, to executive leadership. S/he will also interact extensively with customers and representatives outside the organization. Exceptional communication skills and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction are required. A proven ability to successfully maneuver situations where several strong opinions are at play will be a critical component of this role. S/he must possess sound decision-making skills to benefit both the customer and the Company. **Key Accountabilities:**
- Works closely with the business development team on pricing, terms, and conditions for project-related work;
- Main point of contact for customer regarding coordination of project personnel;
- Communicates customer requirements and expectations to the General Manager, Cargo Services Manager, and the Operational Manager, ensuring these requirements and expectations are met;
- Reviews and approves project-related proforma/draft invoices;
- Oversees other departments such as cargo services and maintenance;
- Fills in as the General Manager during the GMs absence, having certain approval authority. **Candidate Experience:**
- 5 years of stevedoring and marine terminal operations experience with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience;
- Bachelor's degree from a Maritime Academy, in Maritime Administration or related field; relevant working experience may be substituted;
- Proven experience leading through change, fostering a cooperative work environment, and motivating others to drive continuous improvement;
- Decisive individual who possesses both a strategic and operational focus;
- Strong leadership demeanor as well as the ability to effectively influence and make recommendations at all levels of the organization;
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include knowledge of Excel skills;
- Required to obtain a TWIC card;
- Bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred;
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, in order to communicate with internal and external customers, at all organizational levels;
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
- Proven ability to think logically, excellent analytical, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills;
- Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
- Deadline-driven and provide a quality product/service;
- Self-motivated and proactive;
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment;
- Team player and can-do attitude;
- Self-starter and able to complete work with minimal supervision and independently handle daily tasks while also understanding the escalation process for assistance and knowing the limits of his/her authority;

- Project management skills. **Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:**
- The employee is continuously required to sit;
- The employee is frequently required to stand and walk;
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds;
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment;
- Work may involve moderate exposure to inclement weather/elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke, unpleasant odors, toxic or caustic chemicals;
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate;
- Local and non-local travel may be required (approximately 10% of the time);
