Are you looking for a unique way to help patients in the Dermatology department? Do you have a passion for skin care and skin conditions? We are seeking a skilled part time Medical Skin Care Technician to join our team! Apply for this rewarding opportunity and truly touch the lives of our patients in a special and rewarding way! Job Description:The Medical Skin Care Technician helps patients with skin conditions, skin traumas and aging skin to heal and rejuvenate the appearance of the skin. Medical Skin Care Technicians can administer chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser therapy, and potent acids. The Technician is independent with limited oversight provided by Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Practice safe equipment operation and workplace practices in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Fitzpatrick skin types to ensure proper skin treatment and alleviating the risk of skin damage, scarring, hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation.
  • Knowledge of medical skin care products and application, ingredients, potential pre and post treatment complications and the biology of the skin's structure and how to correct, prevent and protect from damage due to illness, trauma, or accidents. Competency in corrective treatments for pigment, vascular concerns, Melasma and Rosacea.
  • Educate patients on proper skin care techniques, sun precautions, pre and post treatment instructions. Provide consultations and skin analysis of patients with varying concerns, issues, and goals.
  • Recommend treatment plans and home care regimens to address concerns and achieve desired results.
  • Train and maintain competency through education on services, products and equipment through vendor training and seminars assist in the orientation of new personnel.
  • Train and maintain competency in the following skin care procedures: Microneedling/PRP, Chemical Peels, Hydrafacial, Dermaplaning, Microdermabrasion.
  • Responsible for application of topical anesthetic safety (BLT commonly utilized)
  • Works with the health care team to effectively communicate and document relevant patient information across the continuum of care to achieve optimal, cost-effective care and maintain a complete and accurate medical record.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to continuously improve patient care, health out-comes and unit operations. Participates in technician and staff meetings.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of instruments/equipment used during exams and procedures using proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Clean exam rooms and sanitize instruments after each patient visits using proper infection control techniques to ensure patient safety. Makes necessary preparations for subsequent procedures, including restocking supplies and instruments and coordinating materials required for use on procedures.
  • Demonstrates competency in computer skills when accessing clinical information. Train to have working knowledge of EPIC charge capture and documentation and ECRS point of sale system for medical product inventory and sales.
  • Answer patient phone calls and appropriately document information into medical record and other computer-based systems as needed for clinician/RN triage.
  • Demonstrates professional accountability by maintaining a level of knowledge, confidentiality & skill, as defined in CBO, related to current and changing trends of patient care to deliver optimal, cost-effective care and achieve the mission and vision of Gundersen Health System.
  • Maintain proper patient charting on our paperless EMR system which includes HIPAA forms, in-formed consents, before and after photos, and post treatment records.
  • Collaborates with marketing to determine upcoming promotions. Train to have an understanding of Friends Media to update and educate patients on products and services as well as monthly promotions.
  • Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
  • Personally interacts, engages with and cares for patients.
  • Ensures patient safety.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned/delegated.
RequiredEducation and Learning: High School Diploma or equivalency
DESIRED
Post High School education in a specialized field: Advanced training in aesthetic specialties
RequiredWork Experience: 3-4 years of experience providing aesthetician services
DESIRED
2-4 years of experience providing medical aesthetician services at Physician practice/Healthcare system
RequiredLicense and Certifications: Aesthetician License - Wisconsin (AESTH) or Cosmetology License - Wisconsin (COSMETOLOG)
Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Infant (less than 1 year)
