Position informs and counsels patients in regard to their eligibility for Hospital Discounted Care (HDC). Verifies and updates patient demographics information for new and existing patients. Performs screenings based on Colorado State guidelines, fills out excel form, tracks patient screenings in spreadsheets for Colorado State compliance, creates profiles as needed in our electronic health record (EHR). Position will also provide coverage for the reception desk/switchboard for breaks and lunches. Responsible for keeping the financial assistance team and the Customer Service Supervisor informed of all matters with regard to self-pay claims and HDC eligibility. Position is responsible for other duties as assigned by the Customer Service Supervisor, Revenue Cycle Director and/or CFO.

Education: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Spanish speaking is a plus, but not required.

Experience: Ability to audit and review information for accuracy. Requires ability to work cooperatively with other employees, other departments and the public. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines is required. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and concentrate in a busy environment is required. Ability to use common computer system and business software is necessary. Bilingual English and Spanish is an added bonus, but is not required.

Essential Functions:

• Determines patient financial status. Ensures that patient understands their rights under Colorado Hospital Discounted Care program (HDC).
• Screens patients for eligibility for HDC.

• Collects data from patients, tracks screenings, enters pertinent information into spreadsheet in compliance with Colorado HDC.

• Processes monthly report to Revenue Cycle Director regarding HDC screenings
• Covers breaks and lunches for the reception desk/switchboard
• Works closely with PFS Account Representatives when insurance information is received through follow-up phones calls to patients/guarantors..
• Processes GVH financial assistance program applications and works closely with the Revenue Cycle Director regarding assistance program recipients. Responsible for the processing of HDC screenings. Interviews and collects required documentation for program applicants. Determines qualification and benefits available to applicant.

Compensation: $18.50 - $20.00/hr, depending on experience.

Limited to no benefits available to PRN employees working less than 30 hrs per pay period.
