Role and Responsibilities
Gurtz Electric’s Wisconsin Branch is seeking a delivery driver to distribute products to promptly to our job sites. You will represent our company in a professional and cost-effective manner. Your role will be essential in creating value through increased productivity and customer satisfaction.
· Transport materials from our shop to site throughout the Milwaukee area and other areas as assigned
· Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
· Plan routes to meet delivery schedules
· Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
· Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
· Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
· Collect and verify delivery instructions
· Report defects, accidents or violations
· Load and unload vehicles at both shop location and work sites
· Deliver material to final location and work sites
· Assist in loading and unloading delivery vehicles at work sites
· Effectively and confidently communicate with project stakeholders and own staff
· Make sure you are following safety protocols at all times
· Other duties as directed by the Branch Manager and Foreman
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· High school/CED and ability to read and write English.
· Clear driving record with no recent violations or restrictions
· Ability to manage and lift heavy loads
· Ability to use pneumatic lifts, pallet jacks, and for trucks
· Ability to drive for full shift and travel regularly in a vehicle for 8 or more hours
· Extensive knowledge of applicable driving rules and regulations
Preferred Skills
· Experience driving commercial vehicles
· Current CDL License
· Proven work experience as a truck driver or delivering to commercial properties or work sites
· Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software
· Ability to drive full shift and travel regularly in a vehicle
· Extensive knowledge of applicable driving rules and regulations
Additional Notes
Position will report to the Wisconsin Branch Manager.
