Gwinnett County is Hiring a Part-time Judicial Office Assistant Near Lawrenceville, GA

Class Summary

This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,560 hours per year (averaging 29 hours/week) and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.Job Description
This part-time Judicial Office Assistant will provide administrative support to the Juvenile Court Associate Judges, schedule hearings and coordinate caseload activities, prepare and review published calendar, and respond to requests for information.
Essential Duties
  • Scheduling cases for court, determining the appropriate type of hearing to schedule; ensuring attorneys are available; ensuring appropriate documents have been filed; determining if transportation or language interpretation assistance is required; preparing and distributing orders; disseminating case status information; and/or performing other related activities
  • Maintaining court calendars by determining when cases should be placed on the calendar; determining the feasibility of final hearings; reviewing requests for continuance and/or other related documents
  • Responding to requests for information from attorneys, court staff, the general public, victims, witnesses, and/or other interested parties
  • Providing administrative support, which may include answering phones, taking messages, filing, faxing, preparing mailings, ordering supplies, data entry into databases, retrieving and disseminating files, monitoring office inventory, assisting with special projects, and/or performing other related activities
  • Attending a variety of courtroom activities and be the main administrative point of contact for juvenile court traffic hearings
  • Preparing court orders, warrants, and/or other related documentsPublic Speaking Duties

    • This job is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval.
    Grade
    The grade for this position is 97.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Two years of court or legal office experience
      • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
