Gwinnett County is Hiring a Recreation Leader-PT Near Gwinnett County, GA

Job DescriptionThe Volunteer Resources team works across the entire park system to provide meaningful, safe, and equitable opportunities for our community to give back through volunteerism. Volunteer projects focus on park beautification and natural resource management, fostering community science, and facilitating volunteers for other park events and collaborating with county and community partners. The team also handles park campground rentals. 
Essential Duties
  • Assist and lead volunteer projects in Gwinnett Parks 
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners for Park projects
  • Educate volunteers of all ages on safety procedures during volunteer projects and programs
  • Assist with data entry of volunteers and project impact 
  • Facilitate volunteers to Park projects, programs, and events
  • Assist with planning, leading beautification, and natural resource management for volunteer projects
  • Communicate and plan projects with Recreation and Operations staff 
  • Utilize specific software to track volunteer projects and registration 
  • Perform clerical/administrative duties like answering phone calls, greeting customers, and processing registration and campground rentals 
  • Be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions other duties as assigned
Grade
The grade for this position is 97.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, or G.E.D.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification with in the first six (6) months  
  • Valid driver's license
This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,560 hours per year (averaging 29 hours/week) and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.

The County Administrator and County Attorney are appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serve at its pleasure. To implement the Board's policy directives, the County Administrator uses a management team consisting of members of his immediate staff and 14 department directors. The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County’s values.
 
In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
