Baker Botts is Hiring a Senior Coordinator, Client Development - Litigation Near Houston, TX

Baker Botts L.L.P. is seeking a Senior Coordinator to join its Client Development team in its Houston office. This is a Firmwide exempt position responsible for assisting with the planning and execution of the Litigation Department's strategic business development goals and initiatives, including related practice and industry-related initiatives.
Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Work with the Client Development team, litigation practice groups, and lawyers to identify client targets and develop and implement plans to acquire new business.
  • Draft, edit and finalize business development materials, including proposals and RFPs, presentations, and electronic updates and newsletters; also track outcomes and update records of same.
  • Draft and edit survey responses and compile client references for these surveys.
  • Collect, enter, and maintain litigation-related marketing content in the firm's database, including practice descriptions, proposal materials, website content and related experience lists.
  • Manage events related to the Litigation Department and its practices, including industry conference sponsorships, client presentations, seminars and webinars, and practice/departmental meetings and retreats.
  • Coordinate and manage research projects (e.g., company information, executive profiles, litigation profiles, competitor information, industry information, etc.).
  • Manage litigation-related inquiries that come in through the firm website.
  • Finalize and process check requests, invoices, and other arrangements required for support of litigation business development activities, as needed; track Litigation Department expenses for annual budget reporting.
  • Work with the Communications team to promote events, thought leadership, and matter wins related to the Litigation Department and its practices.
  • Assist with Client Development and firm management status reports.
  • Create and maintain marketing mailings and lists in contact management database, InterAction, and coordinate mailings in Vuture.
  • Maintain Litigation Department calendar of events and speeches on Firm intranet.
  • Other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of five years of professional services marketing or paralegal experience, preferably with an AmLaw Top 200 law firm.
  • Litigation experience preferred and antitrust and/or energy sector experience a plus.
  • Candidate must be comfortable learning web-based software and tools. Knowledge of legal and business resources, such as Monitor Suite, Capital IQ, PACER, LexisNexis, WestLaw and others, are a plus.
  • Candidate should have strong skills in MS Office software, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Candidate should have experience with CRM software.
  • Candidate must be dependable and a self-starter.
  • Candidate must be able to work well with lawyers, other professionals, and staff within the firm; be comfortable interacting with key department personnel, and possess diplomacy, enthusiasm, and perseverance.
Extent of Public Contact (Within and outside the Firm)
This position requires contact with individuals within the firm as follows:
  • a high degree of contact within the Client Development department
  • a moderate to high degree of interaction with firm lawyers
This position requires contact with individuals outside the firm as follows:
  • a moderate degree of contact with vendors/suppliers/industry organizations/conference providers and others in the event planning arena for special events
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to work at a computer and telephone for extensive periods of time.
  • Must be able to routinely lift and carry files and other items up to 10 pounds; and
  • Must be able to function in a standard office environment.
Working Condition and Environment
  • Candidate must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, be detail-oriented and have strong skills in written/verbal communication, organizational ability, prioritization and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Candidate must be flexible and willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Some limited travel may be required.
  • This role may be hybrid and will require a minimum of three days per week (or at least 60%) present in the office, and up to two days per week (40%) may be performed remotely.
