H2O Innovation is Hiring an Operator In Training Near Dutchess County, NY

WATER & WASTEWATER OPERATOR IN TRAINING (OIT) THE POSITION The Water & Wastewater Treatment Operator in Training will be under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and work in the Dutchess County area from Greenport to Staatsburg. This position accomplishes a variety of duties related to the daily operation of wastewater and water treatment (collection, treatment and distribution). The position will oversee a number of pump stations. Hourly position with a minimum of 40 hours per week on site.
THE DAY-TO-DAY Conducts routine testing of wastewater and water as directed by manager, records test results and maintains the plant logbook with accurate and timely entries of activities.
Develop a basic knowledge of operations, maintenance, data collection and company policies. Learn the basic processes, tank names, and plumbing in all assigned facilities.
Performs daily lab tests and inputs data into SharePoint.
Collects all meter numbers and inputs into SharePoint.
Collects regulatory samples with instructions from manager.
Be available for any regulatory walkthroughs at assigned facilities.
Notifies manager if bench or SharePoint sheets need to be made for assigned facilities.
Keeps track of lab supplies and chemical stocks and notify manager if more are needed.
Maintains the facility treatment units by performing basic maintenance with direction from manager.
Troubleshoots issues with instructions from managers. Identify and report the need for repairs to treatment plant equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, blowers, and chemical feed equipment.
Calculates chemical feed rates, calibrates chemical equipment and adjusts chemical feed rates as indicated by lab tests with the direction of the Manager to comply with effluent quality requirements as established for the plant. Adjusts or alters the chemical treatment of plant processes as directed by manager.
Follow all safety guidelines and procedures as directed.
Responsible for housekeeping and grounds up-keep including garbage removal, sweeping, mopping, dusting, organizing supplies and parts, bathrooms, mowing, weed trimming and snow removal.
Must have on-call availability within a 60-minute response time and on call emergencies.
Reach out to manager with any concerns or questions regarding assigned facilities.
Inform manager of any changes in the trends of operation at assigned facilities.
Assist teammates when asked and available.
Perform Other Duties As Required/assigned. SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES DESIRED ProfessionalMinimum required high school diploma or equivalent.
Valid state driver’s license with no DUIs and no more than 3 violations in the past three (3) years. Must have had a valid license for 3 or more years.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must be willing to become certified at our discretion.
Some Technical Or Mechanical Work Experience Preferred.Computer skills helpful but not a must, will train right person.
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): Ability to speak and hear: 4-8 hr/day
Walking & Standing: 4-8 hr/day
Bending & Reaching, Pushing & Pulling: 4-8 hr/day
Use Hands & Fingers to Handle, Touch & Reach: 4-8 hr/day
Climb Stairs or Ladders
Balance, Stoop, Kneel, Crouch, Crawl & Sit
Physical Effort: Regularly lift 10-25 pounds, occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs
Vision: Must be able to Distinguish Color and have Close & Distance Vision
Ability to Operate Motors fueled by Gasoline, Diesel, or Gaseous fuels.
Ability to Paint & Use Hand Tools.
Environmental Stress: Busy Atmosphere, Working Inside and Outside including Very Hot Temperatures & Snow and Ice. Noise Level is Moderate.
