Provides technical and administrative supervision for personnel in neurodiagnostics (EEG and EMG technologists, video monitoring technologists) at HMH. Responsible for clinical coordination of all neurodiagnostic services (EEG, EMG, and evoked potentials) for inpatient and outpatient services performed. Oversight of 24/7 coverage for all areas within service.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Supervisor of Neurodiagnostics at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

1. Oversight for all employees in the neurodiagnostic division.
2. Prepares staff schedules to accommodate departmental needs.
3. Assign staff to cover all modalities of neurodiagnostic testing on a daily basis.
4. Responsible for staff scheduling and submission of payroll. Processes vacation and leave requests and maintains accurate records of employee attendance records.
5. Interviews potential employees and provides recommendations for hiring as needed.
6. Coordinates and provides orientation to new staff members as needed
7. Works collaboratively with nursing leadership of patient units to educate staff as needed.
8. Assists with development of employment standards for quality metrics.
9. Assists with development of technical guidelines.
10. Identifies and coordinates training and development opportunities for self, team members, and clinical staff.
11. Provides support to team members during a seizure episode; discussions as needed.
12. Rounds with epileptologists on patients with continuous vEEG monitoring whenever possible.
13. Develops and maintains monthly statistics, adult and pediatrics.
14. Able to perform Neurodiagnostic technologist procedures to support overall division demands.
15. Verifies patient testing is done with accuracy; can differentiate wave characteristics between brain disorders vs background or system noise.
16. Verify tracings have a high degree of accuracy and tests are performed using standard protocol, and are done in order to eliminate artifacts.
17. Serves as a liaison between Neurology, Neurosurgery and other hospital departments.
18. Trouble shoots equipment issues with the appropriate vendor company.
19. Recommends budget requirements for efficiency of service line.
20. Demonstrates competency in editing EEG tracings.
21. Ability to perform and mentor diagnostic procedures: vEEG, Evoked Potentials; EMG, and other applicable testings.
22. Oversight of patient billing for Neurodiagnostic Lab.
23. Works collaboratively with Director, Physician Division Director and Neuroscience Chairs for maintenance of program certifications.
24. Follows all department protocols
25. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
26. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), GED equivalent programs, and/or other Vocational degrees/certificates.
2. Minimum experience: 3-5 years experience as a Neurodiagnostic Technician
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. Ability to perform all areas mentioned above of Neurodiagnostic testing
2. Associate degree ( 2 years college)

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
2. ABRET registration in a least one of the following: EEG (preferred); EP; or NCS (If not, to be completed by 6 months after hire)
