Haley Ward is looking for a Construction Inspector for our Port St. Lucie, Florida office to be responsible for daily inspection efforts on complex and/or diverse projects to ensure quality control and conformance with plans, specifications, and contract documents roadways, utilities, grading, and/or drainage, and other construction projects.

What you can expect to be doing:

  • Monitoring contractor’s operations for compliance with contract terms and specifications.
  • Recognizing basic construction or engineering problems, recommending changes to construction plans to meet field conditions; making field measurements of pay items and conducting materials testing.
  • Maintaining and reviewing comprehensive project records including daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders, and monthly estimates.
  • Working with Engineers and Surveyors to discuss and resolve field construction issues and obtain technical guidance in specialty areas of engineering and inspections.
  • Assembling final records of construction.
  • Walking sites for NPDES inspections

Working Conditions

Work is performed in both office and field settings. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes, inclement weather conditions, and various outdoor environments where exposure to Florida wildlife is possible. Work hours are flexible and are subject to change based upon project schedules. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs for manhole and storm grates. Comfortability working in roadway traffic situations.

What you will need to succeed:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid driver's license & reliable transportation is required.
  • Proficiency in English is required. Fluency in Spanish would be an additional asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction inspection for site related projects including water/sewer, roadway, stormwater, facility design, land development, etc.
  • The following certifications are preferred:
    • FDOT Maintenance of Traffic training certification
    • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector (Level 1)
    • CTQP Asphalt Roadway (Level 1)
    • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection (Level 1)
    • CTQP Final Estimates (Level 1)
    • American Concrete Institute Certification
    • FDOT Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
    • Nuclear Radiation Safety certification
    • Florida Stormwater Inspection Certificate (NPDES)
    • Florida stormwater, erosion, and sediment control certification

A criminal background check and driving record check will be conducted.
