Halff is looking for a Data Engineer to support the architectural design and implementation of cloud-based and on-premises data warehouses, data pipelines, maintenance processes, and integration projects. This is a role where you can make a real difference in our growing firm by enabling us to consolidate, analyze, and integrate data from various systems and making it available to staff throughout the company for large- and small-scale work.
The ideal candidate is person who enjoys learning new skills and technologies as part of a team with diverse skills that works to enhance all our front-office operations including Accounting & Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Operations, Recruiting, Communications, Legal, and Training. This is a new position in a growing team of business and reporting analysts with great potential for professional growth.
This is a full-time position with the possibility of working remotely. Remote-only candidates will be considered but must reside in a state in which Halff already maintains offices/staff: Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Iowa.
Data Engineer - Business Systems Responsibilities

Arkansas: Bentonville, Fort Smith, Little Rock and North Little Rock

Louisiana: Baton Rouge and Shreveport
Oklahoma: Norman and Oklahoma City

Data Engineer - Business Systems Responsibilities
- Helping to define an overall data architecture in the Microsoft Fabric environment.
- Developing ETL processes/pipelines for warehousing data both in MS-Fabric as well as in the SQL Server (on-premises) environment
- Performs and automates data extractions, ensures data accuracy, troubleshoots, and resolves bugs during data warehouse operations
- Work with the team on complex integration and automation projects
- Working with business and data analysts to find new ways of cross-correlating and re-using data from multiple sources across our systems
- Cross-train with teammates in overlapping skills
- Research new technologies and systems to solve business problems.
- Help teammates with QA/QC testing and data verification tasks.
- Learn about our business and departments on your way to becoming a trusted partner throughout the organization.
- Experience with designing, creating, and maintaining data sets in the Microsoft Fabric:
- Creating and managing data using a lakehouse/datalakes
- Designing pipelines to copy data into a lakehouse/datalakes
- Using notebooks to write code for data ingestion, preparation and transformation.
- Using row and column level security features to provide role-based data access to appropriate staff
- Strong MS-SQL Server programming skills (T-SQL)
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- Strong critical thinking skills
- A passion for learning new systems, data sets, and software
- The desire to learn about various business areas such as marketing, accounting, and human resources as well as our production systems and how they integrate to support the business
- Good written communication skills
- The ability to work both on team projects and individual assignments.
- Strong skills with MS-Excel for data manipulation, validation, and reporting
- Working with using DAX for PowerBI and/or Excel
- Data analysis and transformation using languages such as Python or R
- SQL Server Business Intelligence Services
- Other SQL or NoSQL database systems
- Reporting systems such as SQL Reporting Services or Crystal Reports
- Data analysis systems such as PowerBI
- Experience with Workato or PowerAutomate
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint, Deltek Vision, or other ERP systems
