The Payment Posting and Enrollment Specialist is responsible for accurately and efficiently posting payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts and managing the electronic enrollment and set up process. This role ensures that all payments are posted electronically in a timely manner and that the enrollment process is streamlined and efficient. The hours are 8am to 4:30pm, Monday-Friday. This is a remote position that will require the technical skills and self-discipline to work from home.

Key Responsibilities

Payment Posting:

• Accurately post all payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts.
• Reconcile posted payments to daily deposit logs and ensure accuracy.
• Handle and resolve any payment discrepancies or issues.
• Manage 835 transactions files and lockbox data conversion, implementation and testing of 835 transactions for payment postings.
• Request changes & corrections to actions tied to remittance codes for payment processing.
• Maintain accurate records of all payment transactions.

Enrollment Process:

• Manage the enrollment process for all insurance companies and third-party payers.
• Ensure timely completion of enrollment forms and submission to payers.
• Monitor and follow up on the status of enrollments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any enrollment issues.

Account Reconciliation:

• Perform regular account reconciliations to ensure accurate posting of payments.
• Identify and rectify any discrepancies in posted payments.
• Assist with month-end closing processes related to payment posting.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain detailed and accurate records of payment postings and electronic enrollments.
• Generate and provide reports on payment posting activities and electronic enrollment status.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.

Communication and Coordination:

• Communicate effectively with insurance companies, third-party payers, and internal staff regarding payment postings and all electronic enrollments.
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients and clients regarding payment postings and inquiries.
• Collaborate with the billing team to ensure seamless workflow and resolve any payment-related issues.

Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in medical billing, payment posting, or a related field.
• Experience with Electronic enrollment processes set up and maintenance with payers and in clearinghouses.

Skills:

• Strong understanding of payment posting procedures and reconciliation.
• Proficient in using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Certifications:

• Certification as a Medical Billing Specialist (CMBS) or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) is a plus.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to sit and work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
• Operate standard office equipment in everyday work activities.
