Company Description

As an equal and independent branch of government the Judges of the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas, acting with integrity, shall provide a safe, accessible, transparent, efficient, and impartial system of justice by fairly resolving disputes, respecting the public interest, and preserving individual rights while maintaining the rule of law

Role Description

The Staff Attorney assists in courtroom operations under the direction of the assigned judge. This position involves advanced legal research and writing and various administrative duties. Performs advanced legal research on legal questions and issues for the judge. Prepares written reports with research findings. Schedules cases on the court’s docket. Answers telephone inquiries into the courtroom. Keeps civil case docket up-to-date on a daily basis. Prepares monthly case reports for the Ohio Supreme Court. Contacts attorneys concerning court dates and pending cases. Assists the Bailiff in maintaining proper courtroom atmosphere. Maintains confidentiality. Performs, when necessary, the duties of the Bailiff in his/her absence. Performs related duties as required. 

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide solutions
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Ohio State Bar
  • Experience working in a court or legal environment is a plus
