  • 36.25 -hour work week, full-time role. Hourly position, paid bi-weekly.
  • Flexible schedule and hybrid work from home options.
  • One week of paid vacation and 15 sick days immediately allocated upon hire. 3 Personal Days provided, prorated with employee start date. Starting vacation accrual of 3 weeks per year. Sick time accrued at 15 days per year with an unlimited accrual.
  • Starting salary range, determined by formula accounting for years of experience: $39,585.00 (base rate) to $49,480.00 (10 years of experience performing this same job or job with primarily the same duties.)

Data Specialist

This position requires a detail-oriented approach to data management, a strong grasp of regulatory standards, and active participation in enhancing data accuracy within the agency. Key duties involve monitoring data quality, identifying discrepancies, and recommending improvements to uphold data integrity. You will collaborate with leadership to streamline data management procedures and provide guidance on data definitions and usage. You will identify trends/patterns of data collection efforts, and recommend updates to processes to streamline data collection.

Job Duties (Summary):

  • Assist with data maintenance and interpretation from a variety of sources with an emphasis on financial and Medicaid service data to include but not limited to waiver match projections, enrollment, and other trends. Enter and maintain client data in agency and state databases following agency policies and regulatory standards. Monitor, evaluate, and refine information provided for database entry and reporting to ensure its integrity and on-going compatibility with agency, state, and other external guidelines and requirements, including those as outlined in Ohio Administrative Code. Maintain knowledge of current guidance as it relates to the appropriate collection, storage, and reporting of data by county boards of Developmental Disabilities. Prepares standard and specialized reports regarding Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waiver allocations, Medicaid Eligibility Rate (MER), waiver and service trends, family support services program, eligibility and enrollment.
  • Maintain relevant data points, data sources and data collection/reporting methodology regarding Medicaid services, locally funded services, transitional care management (TCM)/other billing related data, as well as internal data and information. Identify issues through trend analysis to determine patterns affecting data quality and propose recommendations to leadership to ensure accurate and comprehensive client records across agency databases. Review data being entered from source documents or available software to ensure accuracy and completeness. Investigate discrepancies, fill gaps in incomplete records, and resolve other problems independently and collaboratively. Assist the Data & Analytics Manager in data maintenance and governance efforts.
  • Assists in implementing strategies to ensure integrity, quality, security and accuracy of data related to Medicaid services and other programs, aiming for simplicity, efficiency, and accuracy. Answer questions regarding data definitions, collection methods, and procedures, including creating and updating instructional materials and training resources as needed. Support data entry and cleanup efforts as required. Work closely with the Medicaid & Data Analytics Manager to ensure timely delivery of accurate and valuable information for all report requests.
  • Identifies issues which pose a risk to data integrity or security, especially regarding Protected Health Information (PHI) to supervisor. Safeguards sensitive and protected data and provides information to Privacy Officer/IT for their efforts to educate employees on data privacy and security best practices.
  • Executes processes, encompassing data collection techniques, storage, workflow, and more. Recommends, generates, and distributes demographic, enrollment, and audit reports of local and Medicaid programs to leadership regularly and upon request. Assists with data collection and preparation for Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities and Medicaid requirements and/or reporting. Assists with collecting/preparing data in response to surveys and information requests. Presents data to supervisor for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification):

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of demonstrably related experience
  • Must pass background check and driving abstract
