Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The Hamilton County Educational Service Center has an opening for a full-time/ Part Time and Part Time Casual Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for the 2024- 2025 School Year QUALIFICATIONS: A degree in deaf education from an accredited college or institution and Ohio Department of Education Certification/Licensure. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Provide screening, diagnostic assessments, and interventions to assist with the identification of students, ages three through twenty-one years of age, with a suspected hearing loss. 2. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide written and verbal interpretation of hearing/listening assessment results and suggestions to educational team members and key stakeholders in relation to accommodations, modifications, Hearing Assistive Technology (HAT), and direct service including transition and self-advocacy. 3. Collaborate with audiologists and other professionals to provide information for (re)habilitative activities such as proper amplification use and maintenance, listening skill development, auditory training and speech reading for students with hearing loss. 4. Serve as a related service provider and consultant with school personnel and other appropriate persons (including student and family) regarding hearing loss, educational management, acoustic modifications, HAT, and other specific needs of the student in relation to his/her hearing loss. 5. Develop, implement, manage, and progress monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students who are deaf and hard of hearing. 6. Participate in professional development to stay current in evidence-based practices, licensure, and improve job performance. 7. Be cognizant of and adhere to HCESC policies, procedures, and deadlines. 8. Manage the workload needed for each unique assignment. 9. Perform other duties as assigned.
