Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education with coursework in accounting (degree preferred)
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and reconciliations
  • Governmental fund accounting experience a plus
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office software—Outlook, Word, Excel and Access
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Predictable and reliable attendance
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Solid organizational and analytical skills
  • Flexibility and a willingness to learn and perform a variety of accounting functions
  • Self-motivated
  • Efficiency in working individually and with others within the office
Job Duties (Summary):
  • Generate, reconcile, and monitor accounting and capital asset system transactions, including compiling related financial reports.
  • Apply governmental generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Adhere to Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidance.
  • Prepare various components of the financial reports for the County’s annual audit, and respond to data and documentation requests from external auditors.
  • Document daily, monthly and annual procedures.
  • Communicate professionally, clearly and timely with numerous Hamilton County agencies, e.g., to assist with error correction and troubleshooting.
