Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School is looking to add a Special Education Teacher for theTherapeutic Learning Center in a 9-12 comprehensive high school setting. The TLCprovides academic support and strategies development to support social/emotional/behavioralchallenges through trauma informed practices, allowing for optimal access to the generaleducation learning environment. Support for students is provided within the general educationclassroom and/or other areas of the school community, as needed. Students have theopportunity for support within the therapeutic learning center classroom as well. Students withinthe TLC Program are supported by a School Counselor (LICSW). Counseling is providedthrough group and individual services. Students within the TLC have access to the school’stherapeutic dog.Responsibilities include:● Working directly with students' to support academic, social/emotional and behavioralchallenges that interfere with their access to the general education curriculum, impactsocial development and their emotional well-being● Development and implementation of behavior plans and therapeutic interventions● Consultation with classroom teachers● Provision of direct academic instruction as outlined in student IEPs● Supervision of teaching assistants assigned to the TLC and students● Ongoing parent communication● Conduct academic achievement evaluations for initial eligibility and reevaluations, asassigned● Facilitate annual review meetings
