Full job description

The Hampton Inn Waterbury, CT is accepting applications for a Chief Maintenance Supervisor. The Hotel features 91 guest rooms, event space, fitness center, pool, and many other amenities for guests to enjoy.

The Chief Maintenance Supervisor. is responsible for maintaining the overall operation of the maintenance department and the appearance and working order of the hotel. The engineer must be able to work independently, as well as, with others.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining the exterior of the building, parking garage, and common areas
  • Maintaining all equipment in guest rooms
  • Conducting monthly safety inspections and training the staff on safety and emergency procedures
  • Working with vendors.

The Chief Maintenance Supervisor. must be willing to respond to emergencies, even if after hours.

This position requires overall maintenance knowledge and trouble shooting ability with skills in painting, HVAC, carpentry, equipment, and tool usage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and maintain job description and expectations for all staff members.
  • Maintenance of the entire property including all exterior and interior aspects (Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, boilers, washers, dryers, kitchen equipment, pool/spa, building, guestrooms, bathrooms, parking lot, grounds, ceilings, PTAC, computer, telephone, systems, etc.).
  • Be an active participant in weekly department head staff meetings.
  • Supervise assigned associates including hiring, termination, discipline, development, and evaluations.
  • Test, examine, and maintain hotel’s life safety systems to ensure they are 100% operational at all times.
  • Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records and coordinate compliance of service contracts.
  • Coordinate all day-to-day maintenance aspects by utilizing the Guest Request Log. Items which are not completed by day end should be added to the next day duties.
  • Maintain proper par levels for all equipment and supplies needed for the maintenance department.
  • Work with the General Manager to develop, implement and coordinate hotel safety and emergency plans.
  • Contribute and work as a team member in all facets of the position and management team.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the General Manager.

Education, Credentials, Certification, and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED/ College Degree Preferred
  • At least 5 years of Hospitality Maintenance and Management Experience required
  • Certifications may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge and experience in all facets of building maintenance
  • Knowledge of electrical, HVAC required
  • Understand and operate electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent guest service skills
  • High level of organization and attention to details are required
  • Read and understand test equipment and measuring devices

Requirements:

  • Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending and reaching, kneeling, stooping, crawling and climbing.
  • Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends and alternate shifts.

Pay: $18.00 - $19.50 per hour
