Overview:

Hampton Lumber is looking for a Silviculture Forester to join our team in Salem. In this position, you will be focused on silviculture, reforestation activities, and other management assistance on Hampton timberlands in Northwest Oregon, consistent with Hamptons goal of growing marketable forest products. This is a full-time position offering competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure operations comply with the principles and standards of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Hampton Lumber's safety plan
  • Responsible for implementation of reforestation, burning, PCT, drone flights, and herbicide applications on Hampton managed lands
  • Provide supervision with direct financial, contractual and regulatory compliance for all silviculture activities in our Salem Resource Area
  • Mentor foresters that report to you and develop their professional growth
  • Represent the company on industry, community, and advocacy committees or councils as requested
  • Assist with tours on Hampton managed land and operations
  • Support land and timber acquisition projects
  • Assist co-workers with other responsibilities including: inventory cruising, harvest layout, and road projects
  • Manage rental agreements
  • Plan and administer summer job duties and activities for forestry interns working in Salem Resource Area
Qualifications:
  • Excellent PC skills using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ESRI products (field maps, survey 123, ArcGIS Pro)
  • Proven customer service skills, negotiation skills, and related verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire to continue education for professional improvement

Education:

In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a Bachelors degree in forest-related disciplines or a related natural resources field and at least 5 years of demonstrated field, administrative, or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Obtain a Private Pesticide Applicator License in OR. Within six months.
  • Obtain FAA Pilot Certificate (Drone Pilot) within one year.
