Status: Part-time to Full-time
Rate: $18.00- $21.00 Hourly DOQ
Position Overview:
Work for an award-winning Children’s Museum, voted a “Best Place for Kids” for more than a decade! Seeking playful, flexible, and energetic educators with exceptional customer service skills and a desire to inspire creativity to support museum play, programming, and community outreach. This includes monitoring galleries for safe play and maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the museum exhibits as well as presenting short education programs at the Museum and assisting Lead Educators at Community events.
This position is perfect for people who are excited about engaging and interacting with the public in a fun, fast-paced, learning environment and like variety in their work duties! A strong candidate will demonstrate an understanding of how to engage visitors and students (ranging in ages from infant to late elementary and middle school) and present themselves in a public setting. Must aspire to meet the highest standards in program quality and Museum safety, communicate and work effectively with other team members, various museum departments, and the broader community.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Must demonstrate a high level of energy, enthusiasm, flexibility, and patience.
· Interest and desire to work in a variety of museum galleries, education, evening, and off-site event settings.
· Must be available to work on weekend days and evenings throughout the week.
· Ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences in many different environments in a courteous and professional manner.
· Ability to work in a team setting where a high degree of daily communication is required. Must care about and value the viewpoints of other team members with different areas of responsibility.
· Must be able to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
· Supportive of organizational mission and values.
· High level of organizational skills.
Minimum Qualifications
· HS Diploma, Associate degree, or equivalent experience in an education setting preferred
· Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s license and good driving record, provide proof of insurance, and have own vehicle.
· Willing to drive museum vans.
· Must be able to lift 50lbs and be able to be on feet for most of the workday.
· Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification, Food Handler’s Card a plus
· Performing Arts experience and/or interest in science, nature, tinkering, and the arts a plus
