About the Position

Happier Grocery is looking for a full-time Bookkeeper to join our team in New York, NY. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. The Bookkeeper will also be responsible for ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensures complete and accurate daily balancing with all departments.
• Use basic accounting and payroll software, including QuickBooks, Excel, ADP, and Point of Sale Software.
• Perform basic payroll duties and benefits administration.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable.
• Communicate with management, customer, employees, and vendors.
• Use multiple computers to perform various tasks.
• Track expenses, budget, taxes, cash flow, receipts, and other financial dealings of company
• Provide regular financial reports (weekly, monthly, and yearly)
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable

SKILLS / ABILITIES / KNOWLEDGE

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (preferred)
• Motivated self-starter
• Exceptional interpersonal skills – enjoys helping and collaborating with others
• Strong communicator
• Detail-oriented and well-organized
• Experience and knowledge of retail and grocery accounting
• Use of a purchasing, product management and sales system
• Reporting skills – e.g. Excel, Word, SQL
