Happy Tails Animal Hospital is looking for a full time Veterinary Assistant to join our amazing team! We are a 3 doctor, locally owned small animal practice. We provide top quality, compassionate, and personalized care to our patients, while providing education to owners so that they can make the best choices for their pets!

We offer our patients wellness, sick, and surgical services that include soft tissue surgeries and advanced dentistry. We utilize the following technologies: digital radiography (including dental), electronic medical records (cornerstone software), and full service in house lab including Idexx lab machines.

We are looking for individuals that are passionate about the field of veterinary medicine, and that passion is reflected in their daily activities with the care they provide. Ideally candidates would be excellent communicators, reliable, compassionate, calm and level headed in stressful situations, and enjoy interacting with pets and people! Team members will thrive in our cohesive and supportive environment, but should also be able to work independently and efficiently multitask.

This is a full-time position of 35-40 hours per week. ***No nighttime shifts and no weekend treatment shifts needed after office hours!*** Assistants work a consistent schedule every week, with 1 regular full day off per week.

The hourly rate is dependent upon skill level.

Here are a list of the skills e are looking for in and an individual:

• Proper restraint of cats and dogs for exams, venipuncture, and radiograph positioning.
• Trimming nails, dremeling, and expressing anal glands.
• Setting up ear, skin, and fecal samples for cytology.
• Being able to communicate effectively with clients in providing education regarding preventative care recommendations. Including current recommendations involving vaccines, wellness blood work, heartworm prevention, flea and tick control.
• Being able to effectively and efficiently draw blood from both peripheral and jugular veins is an excellent plus, but not a requirement. Along with the ability to place IV catheters.
