Job DescriptionJob Title: Corporate Controller
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Financial Information Management: Prepare, analyze, and verify financial information for all Harbor-related companies.
  • Financial Statements: Compile and present monthly financial statements for operating companies, real estate entities, and leasing firms.
  • Closing Processes: Oversee monthly closing processes and manage the accounting department to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • General Ledger Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of general ledger accounts, including balance sheet accounts for multiple entities, inter-company accounts, and income statement accounts.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Budget Preparation: Assist in the preparation of annual budget items and provide necessary financial projections.
  • Cash Flow Management: Maintain and evaluate cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operations and investments.
  • Audits and Risk Assessments: Conduct internal and external audits and perform financial risk assessments to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Tax Reporting: Collaborate with outside CPA firms to prepare and submit year-end tax reports.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Accounting Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and the interrelationship between the balance sheet and income statement.
  • Financial Analysis: Demonstrated ability to classify expenditures and receipts accurately, understand amortization schedules, and perform financial analysis.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of researching transactions and developing appropriate solutions to accounting problems.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in algebra to resolve everyday mathematical problems in accounting.
  • Computer Literacy: Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office products.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with 1-3 years related experience at the staff accountant level for a small to mid-sized company.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Public accounting experience preferred; Big 4 experience a plus.
