As the Regional Safety Manager overseeing California operations, your role is pivotal in upholding construction standards and regulations. Your duties encompass comprehensive inspections of job sites and equipment, provision of on-site training, incident investigations, and safety protocol advisement. What You’ll Be DoingThe role involves frequent standing, walking, climbing, crouching, and stretching during inspection and survey duties, with occasional lifting of moderately heavy objects. Work is typically conducted in a field office environment, with daily construction site walkthroughs and audits. Personal Protective Equipment is mandatory at construction sites, and conditions may vary from exposure to outdoor elements to indoor construction environments.
As a Regional Safety Manager at Harder, you will perform the following tasks:
  • Oversee staff members, actively participate in professional development initiatives, and foster a collaborative team atmosphere.
  • Engaging in regular communication with Labor and Project management to provide updates on safety performance and initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough surveys of job sites and offer guidance to site superintendents and employees involved in various construction activities, including confined space work, hazardous energy control, fall protection, and scaffolding.
  • Investigate all incidents to ascertain their origin, root cause, and contributing factors, aiding in the preparation of detailed evaluation reports.
  • Facilitate safety education initiatives, fostering awareness through daily and weekly Toolbox Talks and delivering site-specific training sessions.
  • Serving as the main point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns within the region.
  • Acting as a liaison between regional offices and corporate headquarters to ensure consistent safety practices and compliance.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists and program managers to address changes in work processes, implementing methods to mitigate risks and manage hazardous conditions effectively.
  • Provide comprehensive training to equip employees and managers with the skills to identify hazards and execute their roles safely and efficiently.
  • Develop Activity (Job) Hazard Analyses for new major work processes or those with the highest injury/illness rates.
  • Providing guidance and training to site supervisors and employees on safety procedures and best practices.
  • Conduct assessments of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Recommend appropriate measures and strategies to address identified safety deficiencies, investigating hazardous conditions, practices, and equipment to determine the severity of risks and propose remedial actions.
  • Manage injuries and workers' compensation cases.
What you will need to be successful in this role:
  • Possess professional qualifications and expertise in fall protection systems, electrical safety, permit-required confined spaces, excavation trenching and shoring, scaffolding, hazard communication, accident investigation, and reporting.
  • Ability to pass security clearance investigation and relevant substance testing requirements.
  • Hold OSHA 510 or 511 Certification.
