Seeking a driven and intuitive assistant patternmaker and technical designer to join our team at our Manhattan showroom and office! You will be working on patterns for new collections in addition to custom size patterns that are based on specific customer measurements. The ideal candidate is not only detail-oriented and efficient with patternmaking, but also has a strong understanding of how things fit different body types as you will be editing some patterns accordingly. Someone who also has creative solutions and ideas would be ideal for this position as they would be working directly with the designer on new collections.

Must work well in a fast-paced environment and be willing to learn and assist our growing team in any way needed. Our company is growing and this position may evolve over time depending on your individual skill set. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Assisting the Senior Pattern Maker in guiding each seasonal collection from 1st pattern through production ready patterns.
• Conduct fittings with fit models and customers
• Making necessary adjustments to patterns to achieve desired fit and style, considering factors such as fabric properties and garment functionality
• Collaborate closely with design team to interpret design concepts and make flat sketches.
• Creating tech packs for standard and custom patterns.
• Basic sewing of dupattas and other quick alterations.

REQUIREMENTS

• 1 year minimum experience required.
• Ability to work at our Manhattan Showroom in person.
• Friendly and outgoing with a desire to work directly with customers in fittings
• Expert knowledge of fabrics and fabric properties.
• Extremely detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Adapts easily and quickly, especially in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator required.
• Strong Knowledge of sewing preferred.
• Strong taste level and knowledge of the South Asian weddings, cultures and designer market (or strong willingness to learn) preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 24 per week
