Position: Certified Medical Assistant - Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) is preferred.
• Prior experience as a Medical Assistant, particularly in substance abuse or behavioral health settings, is highly valued.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is advantageous.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proficient in conducting basic physical assessments and taking vital signs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster a supportive environment for patients.
• Knowledgeable about patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
• Understanding of substance abuse disorders and behavioral health treatment protocols.
• Strong organizational abilities with meticulous attention to detail.

• Experience conducting urine drug screens is desirable.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist patients warmly and respectfully, demonstrating empathy.
• Facilitate the intake process by accurately collecting and updating patient information.
• Escort patients to examination rooms and ensure they are prepared for appointments.
• Perform basic physical assessments and accurately record vital signs under medical team direction.
• Assist clinicians with procedures and treatment interventions.
• Coordinate appointments and treatment plans with patients efficiently.
• Handle patient inquiries in a professional and empathetic manner, both in-person and over the phone.
