Lead Fund Accountant/SEC Reporting

Financial Services Industry Leader is seeking a talented and motivated Fund Accountant with SEC Reporting experience to play a critical role in ensuring accurate preparation, analysis, and distribution of financial reports for funds and the SEC reporting process. The individual in this role will join a dynamic and collaborative team in a full-time, hybrid role based in midtown Manhattan.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the preparation, analysis, and distribution of financial reports for investment funds, ensuring adherence to SEC regulations and deadlines.
  • Oversee the entire SEC reporting process, including filings, Greenbook submissions, and footnote disclosures.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of monthly financial results, identifying and explaining variances in key metrics like Net Asset Value (NAV).
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency between internal and external reporting.
  • Champion process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in reporting.
  • Stay up-to-date on SEC regulations and accounting standards impacting fund accounting.
  • Lead by example, establishing strong internal controls and fostering a collaborative reporting environment.

You're a Great Fit If You Have:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • At least 5 years of experience in fund accounting, with a focus on SEC reporting or public/private accounting audit experience.
  • Experience with separate accounts including separate account financial statements and audits.
  • Strong understanding of SEC regulations for investment funds.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a track record of implementing process improvements.

Bonus Points for:

  • Proficiency in financial reporting systems like NetSuite and Clearwater.
  • Experience in the investment and fund accounting industry.
