• Responsible for providing technical expertise in statistical analysis and epidemiological methods and techniques, as well as entering, cleaning, analyzing and reporting data gathered through various platforms.
• Performs environmental scan by reaching out to hospitals, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), non-profits, community-based organizations, local and state government agencies to determine what data can be easily extracted and ingested into the data repository.
• Conducts surveillance of EMS data, seizure data and toxicology data. Manages and designs dashboards for HCPH and other forums.
• Collects, compiles and analyzes substance abuse mortality data, drug chemistry data, and MAT-waivered physician coverage data sets.
• Performs data cleaning and recoding for annual creation of analysis files and assists in creation of documentation and guidelines for use.
• Responsible for writing abstracts, presentations, and posters for scientific conferences. Responds as directed to requests for special reports, data analysis or presentations.
• Demonstrates strong abilities to interpret data, identify trends, establish/utilize benchmark data, and present information in clear, concise, and useful formats, including data visualization and interpretation of information.
• Serves as capacity resource for other data analyst activities during outbreak, incident, or event situations. 

• Master’s degree in public health, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, Statistics, or related field.

• At least two (2) years of experience performing data collection, analysis, and reporting on social, economic, demographic and health data in public health setting, medical, or hospital setting.
• At least one (1) year of experience using data visualization tools such as ArcGIS, PowerBI or Tableau.
• At least one (1) year of experience using analytical scripting languages such as R.
• Experience analyzing data using statistical software to calculate mortality or rates, measures of association, confidence intervals and tests of significance.
• Experience in data management, data documentation (e.g. metadata, technical notes, etc.) and data integrity maintenance.
• Experience producing data products, translating technical information into easy-to-understand formats (e.g. dashboards or other visualization tools/techniques).

• Data Analysis: Proficient understanding of data analysis concepts, methodologies, and techniques
• Statistics: Strong grasp of statistical principles, including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and descriptive statistics.
• Data Manipulation: Proficiency in data cleaning, transformation, and manipulation using tools like SQL, Python/R.
• Data Visualization: Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., ArcGIS,Tableau, Power BI) to effectively present insights and trends.
• Database Management: Knowledge of working with databases, including data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues within datasets and develop solutions.
• Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to present findings and insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously examine data and recognize patterns, anomalies, and outliers.
• Collaboration: Skill in collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.

• This is a full time, grant-funded position.
• Typical hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
• Other days and hours may vary based on task requirements.

• This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and printers.

• This is a largely sedentary role; however, some duties would require the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and bending and standing for periods at a time.
