Department History Overview
Harris County Resources for Children and Adults was founded in 1966 as the Harris County Child Welfare Board to provide support services for children taken under the wing of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Fifty years later, Harris County Resources for Children and Adults still provides this support. But the now-county department has expanded services for early prevention, intervention, and adult services.

Housing Case Manager Overview:
Under the supervision of the Housing Continuum Supervisor, the Housing Case Manager will work with youth ages 18–25 who are referred to the HAY Center Housing Continuum. This position assists youth in navigating the voucher application process, attending housing briefings, locating stable housing, assisting in the leasing process, and providing ongoing support and services to youth to ensure they remain stably housed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides support and case management services to youth through the housing application, voucher, and leasing processes; locates emergency, subsidized, permanent supportive, affordable, and fair market rate housing and other housing opportunities; provides ongoing case management support once the youth is housed to ensure they remain housed.
Completes, collects, and submits documentation as needed to the local housing authorities through the initial housing process and recertification's.
Attends and participates in wraparound case management meetings with youth to provide status updates on housing.
Completes required data entry and maintains case files for assigned cases.
Attends and participates in HAY Center and Housing Continuum events and workshops.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or relevant field.
Experience:
One (1) year of verifiable full-time paid case management experience (including case documentation) working in an educational, institutional, counseling, or social service setting working with youth who have challenging life circumstances.
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of case management and administration, case management documentation, and records management.
Experience with the utilization of Microsoft office suite and Case Management Software.
Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software, including Microsoft Office.
Licensure:
Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license (Texas) and auto liability insurance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to be self-disciplined, self-motivated, dependable, and ability to work independently.
Excellent time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize multiple tasks and demands to accomplish outcomes.
Skill in empathizing, valuing, and dealing successfully with the special capabilities, distinctive cultural histories, and unique.
Ability to handle sensitive interpersonal situations calmly and tactfully.
Ability to maintain the highest standards of ethical behavior, exercising honesty and integrity, respect, confidentiality, and fairness in the execution of official responsibilities.
Ability to contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.
Ability to become CPR certified.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with youth, family members, school and government officials, law enforcement, community partners, and the public.

Experience working with transition-age youth and young adults (17–25 years old) transitioning into stable housing.
Some experience working with or knowledge of public housing and housing subsidies.
Some experience working with or knowledge of the transitional needs of youth aging out of foster care.

Full-time | Grant-Funded
Monday -- Friday | 8:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m. (Some Saturdays)
Salary:
$45,177.60--$51,916.80 (Annually)
Based on 26 Pay Periods
Plus, Mileage Reimbursement
Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
