Harrison Western Construction was founded in 1968 and has provided superior design and construction services to the mining and civil industries for over 50 years. We have entered a Joint Venture with Shaft Sinkers to construct a new utility shaft at WIPP (Waste Isolation Pilot Plant). WIPP is a Department of Energy facility located near Carlsbad, New Mexico. When the project is completed, the final shaft will measure 26 feet in diameter and extend to 2,275 feet below the surface. All positions are located at the WIPP site, 26 miles southeast of Carlsbad, New Mexico

We are looking for a Senior Electrician or Foreman Electrician. Electricians perform electrical repairs, installations, inspections and preventative maintenance of electrical lines, machinery and equipment both in and out of the shaft.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Underground Mining experience is preferred, operational & maintenance experience in industrial facilities required
• Knowledge of safe working practices and regulations required
• Strict adherence to regulations, procedures and principles
• Demonstrated knowledge of LOTO procedures
• Proficiency in troubleshooting, inclusive of reading electrical prints
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Proficiency with PLCs and controls will be beneficial, including VFDs
• Meticulous record keeping required
• Minimum 10 years experience required

Skills and Specifications:

• Ability to take direction from supervision
• Recognize hazards and safety risks
• Familiar with equipment and tools required for the position
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Work in a standing, seated, or other physical positions
• Must have strong troubleshooting skills
• Must have MSHA Electrical certification
• Must have own hand tools
• Shaft experience a plus

Compensation and Benefits

• $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
