The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Community Services Board is seeking an hourly Crisis Response Clinician. The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively respond and provide mobile, community based, crisis intervention services to individuals, childhood through adult, during the time of crisis as dispatched from the Regional Crisis Call Center for the Harrisonburg City and Rockingham County area. This position requires a candidate who is able to exercise considerable independence and autonomy in day-to-day decisions making related to the delivery of services to a diverse population across all disabilities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position requires a thorough knowledge of principles, practices and methods of mental health counseling and case management; ability to work effectively with clients, co-workers and service providers from the community; knowledge of crisis intervention and emergency techniques; thorough knowledge of lifespan development and knowledge of community agencies such as school systems, social services, public health and private providers; ability to create and help implement Crisis Intervention Plans as well as Safety Plans; knowledge of and adherence to basic ethics appropriate for the helping relationship; the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and demonstrated good judgment and creativity is a must.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Work Schedule: On call as needed. Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm-10:00 pm and Saturday/Sunday 12:00 pm-8:00 pm; Flexibility needed in event of crisis situation. Additional hours as needed to perform job requirements.
Work Location: 1241 North Main Street, Harrisonburg, Va., individuals’ homes and or other community settings.
