The Hartford Fire Insurance Company in Charlotte, NC has the following opening for a Senior Data Engineer. Summary of Duties: Work closely with stakeholders to design and implement large scale data asset solutions that align with the Personal Lines and Commercial Lines business needs; understand the business requirements and translating the needs to design a robust data pipeline, developing code that conforms to The Hartford coding standards and industry best practices; work within a self-organized scrum development team regarding all design and implementation; proactively address technical issues and risks; debug and troubleshoot defects; perform analysis in PL/SQL using databases such as Oracle and SQL Server; provide solutions using SQL, ETL, Hadoop, infrastructure as code, implement design patterns across the portfolio delivery teams; deliver high quality work of high technical complexity; evaluate alternative solutions; enabling security and making sure the Personally Identifiable information is protected, performance tuning, production engineering, job scheduling and operations support; work with Agile development methodologies and Scrum; deliver best practices, including full lifecycle from conception to successful implementation; and, strive to partner with customers to provide the best service and takes the initiative to add value. Qualifications: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Experience must include the following: demonstrable experience in data engineering, big data, analytics and operations concepts and technologies, such as: SQL, ETL, Hadoop, AWS Cloud, Infrastructure as code, security, performance tuning, production engineering, job scheduling and operations support. Demonstrable experience with PL/SQL and using databases such as Snowflake, Oracle and SQL Server. Demonstrable experience in Agile development methodologies and Scrum and/or SAFe. Demonstrable understanding of end-to-end Data Warehousing architecture and concepts. Demonstrable understanding of HADOOP architecture and ETL best practices. Delivery experience including full lifecycle from conception to successful implementation; and delivery experience working with XML and Agile tools. Telecommuting permitted up to 40%.
