Position Summary:

The Director of Nursing will provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, procedures, strategies, and services related to all Hartford HealthCare Medical Group clinical support staff: Registered Nurses, Licensed Practice Nurses, Medical Assistants and Certified Nurse Assistants.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for nursing practice oversight by organizing and leading the delivery of nursing care including: analyzing clinical practice and identifying opportunities to increase quality, safety, effectiveness and efficiency within Primary and Specialty Care
  • Develops and implements innovative systems and processes that improve staff and patient quality and safety
  • Monitors patient care and analyzes nursing care patterns and initiates quality improvement procedures to enhance patient services; ensures a safe, therapeutic environment
  • Develops and implements clinical outcome measures for quality improvement, cost and complication reduction, and the implementation of evidence-based medicine
  • Articulates and enforces standards for high quality and safe patient care
  • Incorporates the use of evidence-based practice into program development and improvement activities. Contributes to a learning environment by providing educational and research experiences to students, residents, fellows, and faculty
  • Develops and recommends both capital and operating budgets for the areas of responsibility to ensure financial budget targets are met. Identifies opportunities for revenue enhancement including the development of fee schedules for educational programs and activities

  • Effectively facilitates meetings at Ambulatory Operations and organizational level. Leads and/or serves on a variety of internal and external committees to represent Ambulatory Operations.
  • Identifies measurable objectives and monitors progress toward the achievement of specified goals in keeping with operational standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field and Master's Degree is required. One degree must be in Nursing
  • Current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut
  • BLS, ACLS and Healthcare Provider certifications required
  • Five plus years of clinical nursing experience
  • Two plus years of nursing leadership experience
  • The ability to work with diverse groups of Physicians (voluntary/full-time, teaching/nonteaching) and appreciate their contributions to the strategic direction of Hartford HealthCare
  • Visible leader with excellent interpersonal communication skills who relates well with all levels of the organization
  • A creative, forward thinking leader with the proven ability to engage, coach and mentor direct reports, colleagues and other key stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality of management and clinical information
