Harvest Sherwood Food Distributors is Hiring a Sr. Financial Analyst, FP&A Near Detroit, MI

Job Purpose:

The Sr. Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for all areas of forecasting, planning, reporting, business decisions analysis, and operational reviews for our Corporate HQ, Detroit, and Cleveland Divisions. In this role you will partner with business leaders to provide meaningful insights and business analytics. In addition, you will create recommendations for management and executives while exercising discretion and sound judgment with respect to matters of significance. This role will report to the Vice President FP&A and work closely with other branch and finance leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner across the organization to develop short and long term financial operating plans, and help drive implementation of those plans
  • Analyze monthly financial results against forecast, budget, and prior year and work with accounting and operational teams to understand variance drivers and how they impact results
  • Analyze commercial trends to provide general management and insight of key drivers including volume, pricing and costing
  • Utilize various data sources and systems to compile and consolidate data into a format that can be easily understood by various stakeholders to drive business decisions.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages for the executive management and the distribution centers
  • Prepare weekly flash and monthly reporting for the leadership team
  • Work with accounting to ensure weekly/monthly accruals from the G/L and other data sources are accurately loaded and reflected in the consolidation & reporting system, OneStream
  • Develop financial cost models that allow for “what if” scenarios for a variety of financial and operating activities
  • Prepare annual operating budgets with well thought out strategic guidelines by working closely with Regional and Functional leaders to provide profitability insight and key business trends
  • Develop monthly operational KPI reporting to support company initiatives and provide operational teams insight to make informed decisions
  • Develop high quality presentations for branch leadership
  • Execute ad-hoc assignments as requested by management

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or an analytics related field

5 years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably in distribution, and production

  • 2-3 years’ performing duties that demonstrate/require good interpersonal skills and use of technology.
  • Experience using a consolidation & reporting system, such as OneStream (preferred), Oracle HFM, or SAP BPC
  • Strong fluency with Excel, including advanced formulas/functions, pivot tables, macros, and data manipulation
  • Experience analyzing and supporting multiple sites/locations
  • Experience developing budget templates
  • High proficiency in financial modeling
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to apply business knowledge
  • Business Partner focus to operational teams
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to streamline functions and a passion to learn and grow
  • Takes initiative and ownership of assignments
  • A sense of curiosity and critical thinking to identify problems and root causes
  • Ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines and multitask
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of a growing business
