We're looking for an experienced Staff Flight Test Instrumentation Specialist contract role to join our innovative team in Mountain View, CA. We have 4 open positions available, and we're excited to find talented individuals who are ready to support the design, development, and certification of a groundbreaking all-electric aircraft. Role Overview: As a member of the Flight Test Operations Instrumentation team, you'll work closely with our test and engineering teams to develop and maintain an instrumentation capability to support the certification of our revolutionary new aircraft design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot bespoke instrumentation installations on our unique Gen 6 aircraft.
  • Assist in the design of data systems and sensor selection to support certification tests.
  • Perform pre-test and post-test instrumentation system checkouts and calibrations.
  • Assist with post-test data processing.
  • Support effective risk management in all aspects of the job.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and support instrumentation needs.
  • Develop new tools and procedures to enhance our instrumentation activities.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with data collection systems on experimental aircraft, including sensors and wire harnesses.
  • Skilled in building, terminating, and installing connectors on instrumentation wiring harnesses.
  • Knowledge of data telemetry systems and their operation.
  • Experience in instrumenting complex aviation systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in a fast-paced product development environment.
  • Recognized qualifications in engineering or technical disciplines, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Experience with clean sheet development for aircraft certification programs.
  • Familiarity with battery-powered aircraft and associated instrumentation.
  • Previous experience with unmanned aerial systems and autonomous air vehicles is a plus.
  • Knowledge of battery systems and propulsion instrumentation.
  • Experience working with Safran XMA products is advantageous.
  • Experience conducting test activities with certifying agencies such as FAA/TCCA/EASA.
