A. BASIC FUNCTION
· Works under the clinical direction of the Psychiatric Practitioners ‘Staff.
· Provides medical and health information and services to patients and staff as well as information and referral services to external sources.
· Under general direction, provides supervision of nursing staff and nursing support staff at Haven House; and performs related duties as required.
B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as Lead Nurse in providing clinical guidance and individual clinical supervision for nursing team
- Makes clinical and administrative recommendations of training needs of the nursing staff.
· Monitors client symptomatology on a continuous basis; assessing the need for therapeutic intervention; documents client services accurately and appropriately.
· At the direction of the Practitioners, arranges external patient appointments for prescribed medical tests and procedures.
· Medication management processes including administering, controls, accountability, and safeguarding of controlled and routine medications utilized at Haven House in compliance with all federal, state, county, and internal requirements
· Maintains complete/accurate inventory of psychiatric medications: samples, PAP and client supplies.
- Reviews all laboratory reports and as clinically necessary, consults with Haven House Practitioners and outside medical staff
- Communicates/ consults with pharmacies regarding patient medications
- Administers prescribed medications as ordered; documents
· Serves as a member of the clinical team; making clinical recommendations for client care based on client interactions and physician’s orders.
- When directed by Psychiatrists, assists with client emergencies by maintaining liaison with the Crisis Intervention Units and their staff.
- Assis with nursing orientation and documentation of training for all new nursing staff members.
- Investigates and reports medication discrepancies to direct supervisor
- Completes all required paper work according to policy and procedure.
- Attends all scheduled in-service training, supervisory meetings, and outside conference as directed
- Exhibits excellent guest relations skills at all times.

D. EDUCATION
· Possession of a current license as a registered nurse issued by the Board of Nursing Education and Nurse Registration in Pennsylvania; and:
Ten years of psychiatric nursing experience or;
· Five years of experience serving as a lead worker over nursing staff in a psychiatric health facility or inpatient unit
· Current CPR certification
