Imaging Specialist III-IV- MRI Department
POSITION SUMMARY
Positions work in the Imaging Department of a hospital and is responsible to perform clinical diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging and other procedures associated with the production of MRI images utilizing standard or modified imaging techniques in accordance with physicians ordered procedures, protocols and quality standards as established by the department and facility.
III Level: A specialist who under the supervision of a higher level Imaging Specialist, receives training and assists in activities pertaining to specialized imaging procedures; and performs other duties as required.
IV Level: A Specialist which performs the full range of specialized imaging procedures in a specific specialty. Incumbents of positions in this class are required to independently perform specialized imaging procedures in accordance with department/hospital protocols and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
Education: Bachelors degree from an approved program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
Excess work experience as described below in the experience requirement section or any other responsible professional work experience; which provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree from an approved program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.

see modality see modalityImaging Experience: Progressively responsible professional imaging technologist/specialist experience which demonstrated a thorough knowledge of imaging procedures and/or techniques such as myelograms, discograms, arthrograms, etc., including the X-raying of such areas of the human anatomy as the chest, skull, gastro-intestinal tract, urinary tract, and vascular system.
Specialized Experience: Progressively responsible professional work experience as a specialist in one of the following modalities; angiography, cardiac catheterization, computed tomography, echocardiography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, ultrasound, or vascular in a clinical or hospital environment.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
