Salt Lake Elementary School (SLES), established in 1970, is part of the Moanalua Complex Schools and celebrated its 45th anniversary during the 2015-16 school year.

The school is a Title I school and receives federal funds with over 50% students in free or reduced lunch status. SLES enrolls approximately 700 students annually, serving students from Kindergarten through 6th grade.

The school prepares children to be life-long learners through the direct teaching of the thinking skills and Habits of Mind.

With the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions, the minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree.

If you are hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license.

You must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department. Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).

It is your responsibility to ensure the program you have enrolled is aligned with the teaching line you are hired in.
