POSITION GOAL

Tenant Resource Coordinator will be responsible for connecting HACAP tenants to community resources and supports in Linn County, Iowa. The position will collaborate with tenants, community partners and the neighborhood to ensure HACAP’s tenant’s have the resources they need to thrive in their unit and the community. This role will be located at least 30 hours per week at 1500 2nd Ave SE and at other HACAP properties 10 hours per week. The position will work with HACAP’s property management team and support staff in supporting the department and agency’s strategic initiative of “affordable housing for all”.

SCHEDULE AND WAGE

Monday - Friday 8:00 am- 5:00 pm (some non-traditional hours may be needed); $24.86 hourly. 

*This position is eligible for a $1200 retention incentive after successfully completing 180 days of employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Familiarize with community resources to assist tenants in gaining stability while housed at HACAP’s Linn County units.
  2. Works with tenants when notices are received to find solutions to their barriers to tenancy.
  3. Assists tenants with applications to other mainstream resources in the community.
  4. Collaborates with tenants to develop resumes, job resources, and other services to increase tenant income and stability.
  5. Coordinates with HACAP’s other internal resources, including the Food Reservoir, Early Childhood, and Health Alliance to meet the needs of residents.
  6. Assiststenants in understanding their lease obligations in coordination with Property Manager.
  7. Tracks referrals and services in the appropriate agency database.
  8. Develops stability plans with tenants who are interested in more intensive case management services.
  9. Conducts assessments and other duties for the Affordable Housing Support Services Demonstration grant while grant is at the agency for interested tenants.
  10. Provides feedback and solutions regarding dangerous situations, liability issues, safety and health related issues
  11. Troubleshoots on site situations and contacts necessary supervisors or authorities when needed.
  12. Works with community partners to support life skills, budgeting, and other supports in the HACAP housing locations community rooms.
  13. Assists Property Manager with building access and community space resources for tenants, including coordination of community rooms, computer labs, and other tenant amenities.
  14. Collaborates with internal and external case managers working to provide support services to tenants.
  15. Answers requests for maintenance repair from tenants and logs into appropriate system for maintenance staff to address.
  16. Attends neighborhood association meetings and responds to inquiries and questions from the community.
  17. Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationship with community resources; attends and participates in appropriate coalition and other community resource meetings.
  18. Collaborates and supports fellow HACAP team members in the maintenance and operations HACAP’s affordable housing units in Linn County
  19. Other duties as assigned by HACAP Housing Operations Manager and other leadership staff

QUALIFICATIONS

  • AA business administration/human services preferred, BA in human services field preferred
  • 3 years work experience in case management and community resources
  • Experience working with households that have barriers to tenancy highly preferred
  • Work experience that demonstrates:
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills and active listening techniques
    • Ability to learn, apply, and train on new technology
    • Excellent organization skills
    • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi task environment with limited supervision
  • Working knowledge of computers, databases, and standard software such as Word and Excel.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Valid Iowa driver's license & Proof of Insurance.
