Hawque Protection Group is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. This remote position requires proficiency in Paychex and experience with companies exceeding 150 employees. While remote, occasional travel to the Buckhead area of Atlanta may be necessary.
Job Brief: As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately processing and managing our company's payroll. Your duties will include gathering and calculating employee hours, administering payments, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a solid understanding of payroll taxes and reporting.
Responsibilities

• Calculate wages based on hours worked, incorporating overtime, deductions, shift differentials, and bonuses
• Obtain approval for payments from upper management as required
• Process and execute pay orders using electronic systems
• Handle payroll taxes and employee benefits payments
• Maintain accurate records of employee hours, wages, and new hire information
• Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and management
• Prepare payroll reports for analysis by other departments

Additional Tasks

• Understand the impact of timesheets/payroll on billing and client relationships
• Generate payroll reports for analysis by other departments
• Clear understanding of payroll taxes (941s, W2s, 1099s) and their implications on company liability

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll best practices
• Knowledgeable about relevant legislation and regulations
• Proficiency in MS Office and payroll software (e.g., Paychex)
• Trustworthy with confidential information
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• A Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field OR a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience
• Payroll training experience
