Hawthorn School District 73 is Hiring an Instructional Assistant (Grades 1-5) Near Vernon, IL
- Assist the teacher in achieving teaching and learning objectives working with individual students or small groups
- Communicates with and alerts the teacher to any problems or special information related to students
- Assist the teacher with the management and supervision of students in the classroom to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
- Supervise the independent study of students when needed
- Perform supervision responsibilities as assigned by building administration
- Assist in monitoring students during special school events as directed by the administration
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all students and staff in the building
- All instructional assistants must have a statement of approval from the Illinois State Board of Education, including a statement of having acquired State and No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Highly Qualified status. This approval is based on meeting one of the following:
- Completion of 60 semester hours of college credit
- Completion of paraprofessional training program approved by ISBE or ICCB
- Passage of the ETS Parapro Assessment, or
- Passage of the applicable ACT WorkKeys assessments
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of teachers
- Illinois elementary teaching certificate preferred
- Ability to speak foreign language/Spanish preferred
- Ability to speak Spanish is required at the School of Dual Language
