Hawthorne Valley Greenmarket is looking to fill a part time Assistant Market Supervisor position. This position has the potential to grow into a full-time role. The Assistant Market Supervisor’s primary responsibilities are supervise market staff & ensure prompt, friendly, helpful customer service, accurate cash-handling and a clean, fully-stocked orderly market.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

• Ensure accuracy of payments received through market, by training and upholding money-handling procedures, and giving feedback to market staff on over/shorts
• Work Stand and facilitate a timely setup and breakdown of market displays
• Be knowledgeable about our product mix and farming practices
• Ensure that stand areas (aisles, shelves, displays, coolers) are in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards.
• Ensure accurate, up to date pricing labeling, shelf tags and signs
• Work 4 hours per week in two of the on-site productions areas (bakery/creamery)

Position Requirements:

• Excellent organization skills
• Experience service the public
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to drive a fork lift
• Willingness to work weekends
• Ability to give clear instructions
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands while staying calm
• Willing to learn to drive a truck, but knowing how is not a pre-requisite

This is a part-time, non-exempt position with a starting hourly pay range between $17-$19/hr commensurate with experience. Part time employees receive paid sick leave and a discount at our Farm Store.
