Haydon Companies is Hiring a Project Engineer (Heavy Civil) Near Phoenix, AZ

SUMMARY The Project Engineer has responsibility for coordination of technical activities on assigned projects. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates in conjunction with the Project Manager; monitors work for quality assurance and quality control, accepted engineering practices and standards, ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned project between all disciplines and all other project assignments. The Project Manager may delegate certain project management responsibilities to the Project Engineer, including day-to-day interaction with the Client's designated representative as well as coordination of all internal activities performed by Haydon’s staff.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Submittal & Shop Drawing ReviewsProject Controls including Document Control, RFI’s, and Schedule UpdatesDaily Subcontractor ManagementQuantity Tracking & Verification including performing work TakeoffsQuality Assurance/Quality ControlRequires extensive regular contact with assigned Haydon crews and/or subcontractorsParticipating in Owner and Subcontractor meetingsCOMPETENCIESTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Analytical - Synthesizes complex or diverse information; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data; designs workflows and procedures.Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives; organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; develops realistic action plans.Communications - Strong problem solving, risk management, organization, and communication skills. Expresses ideas and thoughts verbally; expresses ideas and thoughts in written form; exhibits good listening and comprehension; keeps others adequately informed; selects and uses appropriate communication methods.Job Knowledge - Competent in required job skills and knowledge; exhibits ability to learn and apply new skills; keeps abreast of current developments; requires minimal supervision; displays understanding of how job relates to others; uses resources effectively.Quantity - Meets productivity standards; completes work in timely manner; strives to increase productivity; works quickly.Quality Management - Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering; 0-3 years experience in heavy civil and related functions plus thorough knowledge of civil construction industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience considered. Excellent skills in P6 scheduling software and excellent computer skills Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, On Center OST, and MS Project. High energy level and the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Understands and abides by all government processes and regulations.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
