JOB
Provides management of technology and communications and provides electronic/computer support to the Elections Office. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, testing, programming, maintenance, and data management of equipment used in elections. Maintains warehousing and physical storage of electronic equipment and provides assistance in other election-related activities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assists in planning and implementing processes to be carried out by the Elections Office.Enters, maintains, and updates information in multiple software applications, including Microsoft Office and specialized third-party software for mapping, election management, etc.Installs and maintains election-related equipment in the Elections Office, including voting machines, computer terminals, printers, scanners, laptops, memory cards, and other auxiliary equipment.Assists coworkers and the public with troubleshooting internal system problems.Performs recovery operations when a computer or other equipment fails.Contacts vendors with pertinent information in case of program or equipment malfunctions; coordinates with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems.Performs back-up procedures for programs and files.Maintains electronic and computer databases; keeps physical files and equipment inventories; and maintains a backup tape library.Monitors usage of disk space and other system resources.Generates system reports and other documentation; may prepare correspondence.May train, or serve as a resource to, other office staff and to the public.Monitors equipment storage and maintains an inventory of all items.Assists with moving, pickup, and delivery of equipment to polling sites. Manages data by backing up databases; creating user accounts; maintaining network security.Assists and administers vendor contracts while following Hays County Elections policies and procedures. Assists in routine activities related to implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, and usage monitoring of the networked environment.Reviews strategic planning objectives and benchmarking.Assures the services delivered by the Hays County Elections Department meet quality and timeliness standards.Prepares statistical reports.Maintains safety and security of section.Effectively manages time and prioritizes efforts.Monitors the elections databases for performance problems.Performs hardware repairs and replaces components.Installs computer systems and equipment, including hardware, software, and wiring.Diagnoses and remedies software and hardware problems.Tracks and conducts inventory of vendor supplied service parts for equipment under repair.Order parts as necessary and exercises Hays County Elections policies and procedures.Follows established policies regarding the safekeeping and security of equipment under repair, departmental equipment, and parts.Triages trouble calls/emails and coordinates with other Elections Department personnel as required to ensure prompt resolution of problems.Installs and supports several different software programs and the hardware for Hays County Elections.Tests software to support new upgrade conversion process.Assists in website design and maintenance.Performs other duties as may be assigned.
