HB Consultants is Hiring a Furnace Operations Shift Manager - Iron Production Near Cleveland, OH
DescriptionIn this role, you will be directly responsible for the operation of the blast furnace and cast house within our iron production facility. Your duties will include monitoring operating conditions of the furnace and implementing corrective actions as necessary. You will oversee cast house operators, manage the casting process, and monitor critical cooling systems. A hands-on approach to daily operational issues involving cast house and furnace equipment will be essential.
Safety is a top priority, as you will be responsible for the safety of crews and outside contractors, while ensuring environmental compliance 24 hours a day and adherence to cast house emission standards. You will also manage shutdown and startup procedures, including critical gas system isolating purges. Additionally, you will be involved in the job and safety training of crews and will serve as a communication link between the crew, Shift Manager, and Process Coordinator.
A willingness to learn all facets of operation and furnace equipment is crucial, as is the ability to embrace new technology and apply it in practice, including participation in an Iron Making course at McMaster.

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- At least 5 years of related experience in industrial operations
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to make quick, fact-based decisions
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Management
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in heavy or metals manufacturing
