DescriptionIn this role, you will have overall responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Steel Producing BOF or Caster facility. Your primary focus will be to provide the necessary tools and resources to your crew, ensuring a safe, smooth, and efficient operation. You will manage your team in a union environment, prioritizing and directing union personnel while fostering a productive work atmosphere.
You will be self-directed, customer-focused, and flexible, with a strong emphasis on providing training and support for a safe work environment. Directing maintenance activities to support reliable operations and ensuring product quality will be essential aspects of your responsibilities. You will also engage in troubleshooting, support continuous improvement activities, and collaborate with outside contractors and vendors. Communicating key performance measures to your Supervisor will be a critical part of your role.
Responsibilities

Responsibilities
- Manage operations at the SPO BOF or Caster Shop, ensuring safety and productivity.
- Supervise approximately 8 hourly employees and work closely with another salaried employee.
- Oversee indirect supervisory responsibilities over Shift Maintenance personnel and Maintenance Project Engineers.
- Report progress and performance of operations during your shift to management.
- Administer discipline when required and may require rotating shift work.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Project Engineers, Suppliers, Union officials, Security, Safety personnel, Division Manager, Environmental Manager, and the Steel Producing Manager.
- High School Diploma.
- Two years of operations supervisory experience in an industrial environment, preferably in a union facility, or at least 1 year of leadership experience with an interest in manufacturing.
- Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Five years of experience in an industrial environment, preferably in another BOF, Caster, or steel plant operation, with three years in a supervisory role in operations.
