Job Summary And QualificationsPOSITION SUMMARY:
The Patient Safety Coordinator is responsible for working to assist in managing the Patient Safety Program under the direction of the Director of Patient Safety. The Patient Safety Coordinator will support the patient safety team in assisting to develop a culture of safety and to identify opportunities and initiatives to enhance patient safety. The coordinator will support the patient safety team with development of the strategic and operational plans to build a prospective, proactive, loss prevention and harm reduction patient safety program.
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse preferred or Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare related field.Knowledge of State, Federal, and Joint Commission regulations.
Three to five years experience in acute care / patient safety risk management setting preferredCertified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) certification, current, or obtain within 18 months of hire.
Demonstrates good organizational skills and strong leadership qualities (task completion, motivation, organization). Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions. Ability to deliver educational and informational presentations on clinical and/or patient safety topics. Ability to inspire others to believe in the culture of patient safety. Advanced computer skills with word processing and database competency. Experience with electronic health record systems preferred.
