Job Summary and Qualifications - FT Days/rotating weekends

• Documents pertinent data in a concise manner
• Prepares instruments and supplies through cleaning, packing, sterilizing and storing procedures
• Understands principles of sterilization techniques and operates sterilization equipment
• Assists in departmental cost containment effort
• Performs equipment distribution and routine cleaning and maintenance
• Maintains attendance and punctuality, ready to work your scheduled hours is an essential job function.
• Assumes department leadership role in the absence of SPD Coordinator.
• Assists with orientation and develops Sterile Processing Techs with on the job training as required to ensure high levels of quality and productivity.
• Provides input to SPD Supervisor concerning performance evaluations of Sterile processing Techs.
• Informs staff of Policy and Procedure changes.
• Provides input to SPD Supervisor regarding staff requests and scheduling needs to ensure streamlined processes.
• Assists SPD Supervisor with the maintenance of standards in dress, hygiene, conduct, attitude, and performance.
• Promotes an atmosphere of cooperation among all departments for the processing and distribution of equipment.
• Is accountable for directing the flow of work within Sterile Processing unit.
• Helps maintain and updates the Skills Checklists.
• Ensure employees follow established Policies and Procedures governing the Sterile Processing Department .
• Makes daily assessments, work assignments, and instructions based on employee skill level in order to fulfill
• the mission of all applicable regulations and guidelines of AAMI, AORN, and IAHCSMM organizations.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• High School Graduate / GED

• Certification in Sterile processing concepts required. Current CSPT (Central Supply Processing Dept

  Tech) Certification through the National Certification Board for Central Service Technician, CBSPD

  (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician), or CRCST (Certified Registered Central

  Service Technician) through the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM).

• Minimum 4-6 years in sterilization and instrumentation required
