Job Summary and Qualifications

Demonstrates applied knowledge base in the areas of patient care skills, resources/references and protocols. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assist in data collection to assess and to provide the care as described in the unit’s policies and procedures. Ability to be flexible, organized and functions under stressful situations. Contact with hospital personnel and the public requires the ability to hear; ability to communicate verbally and in writing and the ability to communicate in English. Adequate visual acuity required to permit accurate communication and dispensing of responsibilities.

What you will do in this role:

• Assists the physicians and RN with procedures.
• Responsible and accountable for care of instruments, endoscopes and supplies.
• Demonstrates safety as it is related to medical device processing and high level disinfectant.
• Communicates effectively, to optimize patient care, orally and through documentation. Documentation is complete, factual and pertinent.
• Demonstrates knowledge of storage of scopes.
• Participates in a rotational call system to provide for continuous availability of patient services.
• Assists in cleaning of rooms between cases and at the end of the schedule.
• Utilizes appropriate body mechanics in moving and lifting patients and equipment to prevent injury to patients and to self.
• Assists in lifting and transporting patients as needed.
• Demonstrates ability to make appropriate notification of equipment malfunction and other problems in a timely and accurate manner.
• Demonstrates the ability to follow through until problems are addressed or corrected.
• Alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated.
• Participates in department’s process improvement activities.

What qualifications you will need:

• Endoscopy Technician Certification Preferred
• Minimum of three years of experience

• BCLS required
