Duties:
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for individuals struggling with substance abuse
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on client needs and goals
- Utilize evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing and psychotherapy to support clients in their recovery journey
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations to assess client needs and determine appropriate treatment interventions
- Provide crisis intervention and support to clients in need
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as social workers and medical staff, and other entities, such as DEEP, to ensure comprehensive care for clients
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Stay current on developments in the field of substance abuse counseling through ongoing professional development
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field
- Valid licensure or certification as a substance abuse counselor (e.g., CADC, LADC)
- Knowledge of addiction counseling techniques and evidence-based practices
- Familiarity with diagnostic evaluation tools such as the ICD-10
- Strong understanding of mental health counseling principles and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to substance abuse treatment
